Phenoxyethanol

Phenoxyethanol is a glycol ether and a common preservative used in personal care products, cosmetics, and pharmaceuticals. It serves as an antimicrobial agent, preventing the growth of bacteria, mold, and yeast, which helps to extend the shelf life of products. This is a substitute of  Parabens  (Methylparaben, Propylparaben). is regulated under the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS). It is allowed to be used in cosmetics at a concentration of up to 1%. This regulation aligns with global standards, as phenoxyethanol is permitted in many countries worldwide at similar concentration limits.
